November 5, 2009
We are writing this letter to all of our patients who have
been covered in the past by Medicaid for dental services. As you know, the
Michigan Legislature eliminated Medicaid dental benefits in July for patients
over the age of 21. We had hoped that benefits would be restored in October,
but that was not the case.
We would like to stress that it is very important to continue with dental
treatments. When dental needs are ignored, real problems can occur. You may
know that there are connections between the health of our mouths and our entire
body. Infections can become very serious, and many of the worst dental problems
can be attended to by simply having regular in-office dental cleanings and
examinations performed.
We would like you to know that we want to work with you to continue to serve
you during this difficult time. We are always ready to help you by offering
payment plans that are convenient for you.
Please be aware that we are always willing to see any of our patients for
emergency appointments. Don't let a serious situation get even worse. For
routine cleanings, we would be happy to treat our Medicaid patients under a
convenient payment plan. The fee for
a dental cleaning is $72. We would be happy to accept one-half of that amount
($36) at the time of the appointment, and the remainder could be paid in
monthly installments.
We realize that even this arrangement might be difficult for some. In that
instance, please feel free to contact us. We can develop a plan that is
workable for you. It is most
important that you not let your dental needs go neglected! We are
always willing to work with you. We value you as a patient, and are here to
serve you.
Be well, and we hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Bruce Donigan, DDS
